Yea, I was born and raised in Wyoming, and I admit that the whole fiasco is way over the top. That being said states like Wyoming, Texas, Montana and North Dakota would be far better off independent from the rest of the U.S. and I don't blame them the least for reminding everyone else of that fact from time to time. Last time I checked, both Wyoming and North Dakota had far more job openings than they had job seekers and it's been nothing short of a "gold rush" around here. I'm in Western ND on a regular basis and 1,200 person towns two years ago are 10,000 person towns now, 9,000 person towns are pushing 30,000 now. Granted you'd think you were in a war zone, destroyed roads, oil fires, tent cities, environmental disasters and a murder rate going sky high, but a lot of people are making a lot of money and are gainfully employed and not living off the government's tit. I prefer that scenario to double digit unemployment, welfare and "limp wristed" whining about what society owes them. Next time you flip on your lights or start up your car you should thank those areas because without them you'd be in the dark and on a bicycle.

Wait dude - I was in Williston for the first oil boom, and two of my brothers were both just up there this winter. Where the fuck are you?

Everyone seems to be on an Apocalypse bender these days. My neighbor comes up to me yesterday and asks out of the blue "Where can I get a cheap shotgun?". He's been watching that new American Preppers show and now wants to arm up, stockpile and get ready to go off the grid. While I applaud his foresight, I know that he rarely keeps a supply of anything more than 3-4 days in his house, be it food, water, weed or gas.
I just think that it's an interesting way for a government to spend a few thousand dollars, studying what to do in the case of failure of the government. I do think that it would be funny to have them overtaken by Canada though. It would be just like the Quebecois, but with even funnier accents.

Hey, that's what the shotgun is for, so he won't have to stockpile.

Rapid City here, but I have to go through Williston, Minot, Bismarck and Fargo about once every three weeks for work. I'm actually going through that area starting tomorrow for a week or so and I'm really not looking forward to it.
