GODDAMNIT NOBODY IS TALKING ABOUT GOVERNMENT MAKING CONSUMER GOODS
Well then I guess we don't have any argument. However, your claim that "Moon Landing, Internet, Nuclear Power (and weapons), public schools, Hoover Dam... ...the list goes on and on and on. " neglects the fact that all of these were built by private contractors through a competitive bidding process.
Seriously Phreddy? If you don't know then at least do the research: ARPA-Net was created by several public universities working with DARPA scientists and Federal funding. Nuclear criticality was created by the Dept. of War at Chicago University. Early Public schools were built in every small town across America by the parents of the children (I actually attended one such One Room school house in the 70s), oh those parents paid taxes to pay the teacher. The Hoover Dam was a Government sponsored and run project which used a consortium of resources. The Moon Landing was accomplished by NASA, however they did engage the assistance of other public and private entities.
Yes private enterprise were involved but neither drove nor funded those accomplishments and innovations. Sorry bud, America is great because Americans willingly work together for the greater good. Capitalism and Free Enterprise are an important part of our core foundation but America does not need those to exist and be successful. We are successful because we as a society have the ability to see past our own direct interests and the insufferable political pandering.
BTW: If you bother to read it you might notice that neither capitalism or corporations are mentioned in the Constitution, we can vote ourselves communist if we like; instead the vast majority of Americans prefer a balanced blend of Capitalism and Socialism. And that my friend is a cold hard fact.

If I bother to read the Constitution? I'm not sure what you read, but OUR country's Contitution is a litany of restrictions against centralized government. There is no way we could become a communist nation while still adhering to the Constitution.

Fixed.
Also, giving credit for the moon landing to the private contractors employed (and told what to build) by NASA is like giving credit to the screwdrivers they used to assemble the damn rocket.
