I'd like to agree with you in theory, but having seen the devastation that can wreak firsthand I'm not completely against the severity of punishment.
Right or wrong reputation at that age is everything and strongly effects the victim over the long term; seriously, that shit was just fucking sick anyway and what comes next from this delightful individual.

I hear what you're saying. I have long thought that corporal punishment was abandoned for all the wrong reasons. Better, I think, on a first offense, to humiliate a young man and take half the skin off his ass than to send him to con college and burden him with a sex-offense record that will follow him into maturity. I mean really...if Facebook had existed when I was his age...who knows. By today's standards I was probably a sex offender myself.

Agreed. 10 stripes taken in the public eye is a more effective and ultimately less destructive deterrent than a year in jail. Its unfortunate that the corrections lobby won't ever let that happen.
What I really miss is Banishment. We don't exactly have a spare Australia, which is why I support the colonization of space with cheap miscreant labor.

It was more than just posting pics of his weenie Goob. After printing out the girls' pics, he spooged them, photographed his dick on the now spooged pics, and posted the result to the girls' pages. At worst, this is defamation. I'm a bit surprised, Fnord, that you'd take the hardline Puritan approach to this. What he did deserves censure and correction, but it should be measured, not hysterical. Over-reacting to this fans the embers of your nation's inner strife. Fan too hard and you yourself could burn.
