They're wasting a perfectly good crisis! They could probably get away with rounding up the opposition, and putting them in camps in the name of fighting terrorism!

I suspect the opposition party had something to do with the use of hydrogen instead of helium. Were the tanks marked helium and actually contained hydrogen? Did all the available helium suddenly get bought up leaving nothing but hydrogen available on the local market?

I occasionally see articles here and there about an apparent helium shortage. However, I don't know much about it because I don't actually read them because man does that sound like a boring subject.

Our political rallies could only be this exciting. Isn't setting people on fire for the cause the goal?
Actually I doubt it was any subterfuge. Helium is in short supply and has grown exponentially expensive. Hard to make in quantities. We are having trouble finding enough for our homecoming spy blimps destined to blanket a sky near you. The US has issued an unrestricted procurement process for helium as they can no longer get competitive bids at the lowest price.
