I'm not insensitive to hunger, Wilber, malnourished more than once in the most improbable circumstances; like collecting foodstamps and living in state parks while writing cover stories for the nation's largest industry. I suck at making money. Chances are, I am the poorest person here and the irony does not escape me. I am the eldest son of wealth and privilege. Plus side, my waist line hasn't budged an inch outward in 40 years.
You hear the news yesterday that Mary Kennedy, RFK Jr.'s wife, committed suicide? I checked their street address earlier this evening and that's 3 blocks from where I lived as a kid. Weird world.

Money...food...all over-rated. I grew up a pauper in a wealthy neighbourhood. Watching the coarseness and stupidity of the average rich did not dispose me towards materialism. From best to worst, I have been a writer, a labourer, a hermit, a carpenter, a thief, a welfare recipient, an editor (several varieties) and a corporate executive. Without a doubt, the healthiest and happiest times of my life are when I'm unemployed and poor as dirt. Jobs eat your life, and the money isn't worth it.
