Orangeplus has been admitted to the hospital with gallstones and pancreatitis.  Please send good thoughts, chant, sacrifice virgins, or whatever other practices you engage in to change the course of events.  I'll be lighting candles in front of my icons of the sacred severed heads of Anne Boleyn and Lady Jane Grey.

Ouch.  Missiles of creative destruction launched his way.

He's having his gall bladder ripped out today, and will be in the hospital for 3-5 days.  The pancreatitis is being caused by the gall stones, so it should clear up.  It looks like he'll survive this little medical misadventure.

Pancreatitis is serious.  It can kill you.  Glad to hear this isn't the case.

The gallbladder and the pancreas share a common drainage duct - gallstones block the duct and all fucking hell can break loose in both swollen organs. Once the surgeon roots around and digs out the gallstones the pancreas should go back to whatever normal is for O+. I'm sure he will have some fairly delightful stories of soul-shattering pain.

This is one case where I think it's OK to eat human body parts. If any part of you is causing you that much distress and you  remove it from the body to get better you deserve to eat it just to show it who's boss.

OK, yeah, that was a little heartless.

There hasn't been any word on how he's doing.  The nurses must have confiscated his communication devices, or else he's too blissfully stoned to issue any updates on his condition.

If there are hepatic complications, he may, in fact, have turned orange.

Normal for 0+ is cranky, and moistened bumwipe the perfect cure.

We met Sofakid under similar circumstances, remember?

What a coincidence.  I had my gall bladder out just a couple months ago.  The emergency surgeon bumped an appendectomy to get at me.

O+ is probably (hopefully) stoned outta his gourd and that's why you haven't heard from him.  They gave me Dilaudid.  I may have had worse pain at some time in the past, but I honestly don't remember any worse.

O+, here's hoping that your recovery is as smooth and speedy as mine was.  And that the drugs are as good.

There've been updates indicating he's allowed to have liquids, and he seems to be rather toasted.

Everyone gets a pain story or three to one up and blot out their friends insufferable maladies.

Anesthesia and pain meds are for me worse than any affliction. I forgo them whenever possible.

I learned the hard way, no phones within arm's reach, ever, after every baby jesus redeemer beat a path to my captive ear. What's the joy of giving them your ever lasting rancid response when you have no memory to savor later?  I'll never know. I may even have called them myself.

Drugs are bad, m'kay?

Well this sucks ass.  Apparently he's been recovering from gallstone pancreatitis all this while, and the gallbladder ripping will occur today, after which he will be sent home.

Partner™ had his gallbladder out ten years ago, and was sent home with drains and bags for us to care for and no real instructions on how to deal with them.  I hope O+ receives better post-op instruction and care.

You try so very hard but you really are just a simple fuckstick. You weren't even around when O+  was rocking the joint. (O+ who may or may not be jadetree). "Yay"ing just magnifies your douchocity (or is it douchosity? I never was sure)

Why don't you go masturbate whilst thinking of exotic male dancers and unicorns and let the grown ups talk?

So, the rule is no one can wish any person well after major surgery unless they have actually traded chat-board messages in the past? Is that how you live your life? No wonder you never make any new friends! But keep up the good work, BC, my ego and every shred of my self-respect is inextricably linked with comments on this silly-ass giggle site. Whenever I wonder 'What would a grownup do' I always recall your example for guidance. Thanks!

p.s. Go a bit easier on the constant drumbeat of aggot-fay efernces-ray big fella, people might think you're projecting.

If it makes any of you feel any better, I have gall stones and they've apparently doubled in size over the past year but my doctor says, as far as she can tell, there's no point in being alarmed just yet.

If my pancreas explodes or I endure some other grisly fate, I promise you a full account with pictures.

Live well, don't get sick and we won't have to see them.

If you ain't in pain and your doctor doesn't want to cut into you to get 'em out, you're in a good place.  I wish I'd had a little medical monitoring; I could have had them out before they blocked the duct and put me in agony (and possibly kept my gall bladder into the bargain.  Pro tip:  emergency surgery is fucking expensive).
