I am continually amazed at how easygoing US Customs can be about the stuff I haul across the border from visits to Mexico. Numerous spices, dried goods (loose, not hygienically packed and sealed), baggies full of various mole mixtures, and cigars ("They're not Cuban, are they?" "Of course not." "OK, then.").
I don't know how much food I brought into the US from Italy a couple of years ago and I'm anticipating a substantial haul from Spain when I get home in October.
