I think studies would find similar results with men. Sexual arousal convinces lots of people to do things, or at least be more open to activities or ideas, they might not necessarily rush to otherwise.

Em, can we please at least TRY to keep non-political threads non-political?

Let's give it a rest.

Sorry mate, that actually wasn't meant to be political; only posted because of the absurdity.

Does anyone have any idea what the TP was about?

“The sexual arousal group rated the sex related stimuli as less disgusting compared to the other groups. "

Who did this study, Dr. Obvious?

A common, misguided complaint. Dr. Obvious does a lot of science, and if he didn't, we'd end up building houses-of-knowledge on conceptual gumbo. If you don't figure out that 1 comes after 2 before you jump to 333 you'll end up with your finger way far up your grandfather's ass - by mistake! That's science, Phreddy. And besides - every once in a while Dr. Obvious turns up something other than foregone conclusions and common sense. That's also science, and it's a whole lot easier on your grandfather's ass.

Big "C" conservatives hate studies. That's why they're constantly bringing up and making fun of many of the, admittedly, sillier sounding studies you often see castigated by various Conservative news sites and pundits. They can only pounce on the obvious because it doesn't suit their purposes to dig a little deeper and find that those seemingly silly studies on amphibian sexual behavior actually reveal much more information pertinent to a wider range of topics, in addition to the subject at hand.

You two are both full of shit.  You're only defending this study because the thought of lubing up dildos makes you feel less disgusting/disgusted, whatever.

That's cuz studies are "Science" and if they started to admit to science they would then be forced to admit that their flying zombie wizard god is simply a myth.

Agreed. Big C conservatives have little ability or desire to think outside their narrow band of prejudice. Anything that doesn't bolster the convictions borne of their emotional insecurities is subject to uninformed scorn. And once again I will mention their unacknowledged blueprint - the 6th Chapter of Mein Kampf:

"To whom should propaganda be addressed? To the scientifically trained intelligentsia or to the less educated masses?
It must be addressed always and exclusively to the masses."

People of fascistic impulse will always be with us, but at the moment, there are so many of them in North America that it's tempting to think that the deck has been stacked. How could that happen? Let's listen to Uncle Adolf again:

"The function of propaganda does not lie in the scientific training of the individual, but in calling the masses' attention to certain facts, processes, necessities, etc., whose significance is thus for the first time placed within their field of vision.

The whole art consists in doing this so skillfully that everyone will be convinced that the fact is real, the process necessary, the necessity correct, etc. But since propaganda is not and cannot be the necessity in itself, since its function, like the poster, consists in attracting the attention of the crowd, and not in educating those who are already educated or who are striving after education and knowledge, its effect for the most part must be aimed at the emotions and only to a very limited degree at the so-called intellect.

All propaganda must be popular and its intellectual level must be adjusted to the most limited intelligence among those it is addressed to. Consequently, the greater the mass it is intended to reach, the lower its purely intellectual level will have to be. But if, as in propaganda for sticking out a war, the aim is to influence a whole people, we must avoid excessive intellectual demands on our public, and too much caution cannot be exerted in this direction."

Many of us miss, or even identify with, small C conservatives; we didn't always agree with them, but they were generally approachable and intelligent. They certainly were not interested in re-enacting the 3rd Reich. But in their failure to embrace the potential of universal education, in their book-keepers' attitudes towards schools and universities, they helped to cement the doom of the demos. The failure of democracy to bring all of its citizens to an acceptable level of education and discourse is also its undoing. Sing us out, Adolf:

"It is a mistake to make propaganda many-sided, like scientific instruction, for instance.

The receptivity of the great masses is very limited, their intelligence is small, but their power of forgetting is enormous."

I'm surprised at you Phreddy. Learning new and better ways to make people overcome their natural feelings of revulsion at performing disgusting and degrading activities is absolutely necessary for the future of the modern conservative movement. Shame on you!
