Extreme poverty exists all over the world, whether it's inner city Detroit, Shannon County in Missouri, rural Louisiana or Zimbabwe. The only places I haven't seen it are countries like Denmark or Switzerland, and their hypocrisy is that their affluence results from policies of keeping immigrants out.

Detroit is like Caracas in that the underprivileged have to attend the same shitty schools, and that there's a high crime rate, just not as bad as in Hugo's land. But there are bright spots in Detroit, and opportunities to escape, both geographically or financially. There are no such opportunities or bright spots in Venezuela. There is zero investment in the economic engine and infrastructure of that country. Everything is crumbling.

Oh yeah, here was my seat companion on my escape from Caracas to Bógota, but trust me she's just an illusion too, a gaudy one at that.

1st of all, she is really fucking beautiful.

2nd, I haven't called him my hero, my point is this: I am willing to bet there are folks down there that see images from our country and claim we are opressed. Some of our citizens ARE.
There are times, frequently, that things appear to be crumbling HERE. Propaganda is everywhere.

Aaaand, he DID donate home heating fuel to our poor.

Thank you for having a reasonable objection without calling me stupid and other juvenile bullshit. It is no fun to argue a point with red necks who shout names and bullshit. I respect your opinion and the way you present it even if I don't totally agree.

Why is it hypocrisy to keep savages who are incompatible with your own culture, who lack the skills to cope with your society, out of your country?  Such people overwhelm the social safety net, which was intended to help your own who have a bad break in life, not provide a living for generation after generation of losers.  Why do you think people from the Turd World have the right to move to the West and have White People support them, their children, and their grandchildren?  You're beginning to understand where I'm coming from.  I'm all for a society with liberal social benefits, but no society that offers such benefits can survive wave after wave of Turd World parasites who live on the generosity of a more productive native population.

If I were a New Age Freak, I would agree it was good planning.  But seriously, defending your people and country from invasion by others is normal, not some form of hate activity.  Only White Countries are expected to deal with massive influxes of people from other races settling in their ancestral lands.  Japan and China are examples of Non-White countries that don't allow large numbers of aliens to overwhelm their societies.  Population replacement by other races is a form of invasion.  I'm sure the Native Americans would agree with that statement.  It’s too bad Turd Worlders were born into shitholes, but that’s not our problem.  They need to put in the work needed to improve their own shitholes, not turn our countries into shitholes!

Good question. Hypocrisy should not have been applied to Switzerland, as any foreigner there (even those from affluent neighboring countries) is treated as a second class citizen. Doesn't matter which language you speak, you're not really accepted if you're not Swiss.

Denmark on the other hand is one of those do-gooder egalitarian places. They claim their society's safety net exists for everyone. But the hypocrisy is that they love to hate on their Turks, it's downright racist.

I visited Venezuela a couple years ago and I assure you that country will be fucked up for the next thirty years... or longer... because of Chavez. Worst fucking place anywhere. Everyone lives in fear of being robbed. And they're pissed off all the time because the power goes out daily, along with the water, across the entire fucking country. Every time you take a shit there's a 1 in 3 chance you cannot wash your hands. Lots of people walking around sick & coughing. Not a happy place.

If you operate a business, you're a target for robbery by the poor or the government. The police are extremely corrupt and feared as much as the other hoodlums.

Violence is epidemic. Over 100 people were killed in Caracas the week I was there, the violence spiked a bit for the holidays... Feliz fucking navidad... That's not including those killed in prison or by the police. That's 100 people in one week in a city of 4 million, making it the non-warzone murder capital of the world... with a greater murder rate than Baghdad!

Hugo did introduce universal healthcare. And he is very focused on making education available to everyone. Not that it matters, as there are no jobs that pay enough for the average citizen to afford living there. A can of beer costs $6. The cheapest meal starts at $25. The majority of people there cannot afford to eat out with their family. They're desperate for dollars because Hugo keeps devaluing the Bolivar, everyone's savings were wiped out years ago. I exchanged currency on the black market at 3X the usual rate, which made me a relatively affluent fucker there.

Gas is the only thing that's affordable at $0.10 a gallon - cheaper than water - and the only reason Hugo remains in power. Everyone drives their beater car because that's the only diversion they can afford. Consequently you experience traffic jams and the filth of pollution everywhere you go.

Everything Chavez does is a play to keep him in power. Perhaps you're under the illusion that a free press operates there. Reporters get dragged out of their office and beaten in the streets if they write anything critical of the regime.

Make no mistake... this is the most evil flavor of socialism, not that good stuff they have in Scandinavia. You and your pal Sean Penn are fucking dupes for thinking otherwise. I don't often think about Sean Penn, but when I do I think there goes a guy who could really stand a boot up his ass.

Everything I am aware of indicates this is truth.  Worked with a couple Venezuelan exiles on a project for a couple months.  They were truly heartbroken to not be there, but they couldn't raise their families there in good conscience.  Based on their description of Chavez, the main difference between him and Noriega is the cocaine habit.

Don't you think you can find people who will say the same thing about 'Murhika? Spend a week in Detroit, seriously.

According to the experts, the poor could afford to miss a few meals.

Findings from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), the most comprehensive study conducted thus far to document the nutritional status of the U.S. population, has found that low-income children and adolescents are more likely to be obese than their higher income counterparts [4]. Additionally, reports have shown a higher prevalence of obesity among low-income adults.

In centipoises or kinematic viscosity in centistokes?  Unfortunately there aren't any Imperial measurements for it, like "how fast a 20 lb dog takes to sink 3 feet in 1 hogshead at 72 degrees Fahrenheit", so as an American I'm unable to answer your question.

Thanks Ops - I run strictly on Imperial measurements - centipeds notwithstanding. Metric measurements are an exercise in fascism perpetrated by the ignorant deci-digital majority to the discomfiture of the rest of us. I was starting to get "that sinking feeling" but your answer has buoyed my spirits, now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to drown myself in a butt of Malmsey. Hugo is partially responsible; he's just taking advantage of the Drug War stupidity to make a lot of dough.  The violence will go away once the money does.  However, sending the SWAT team wearing armor and with AK-47s drawn to arrest teenagers smoking pot is just a bit over the top.
