...and frankly, if you do not enjoy Archer you are not really High-Street material.

Had to Google Archer to find out it is just more television garbage. Since I haven't had a television in 20 years+, I guess I will just have to miss out.

Twenty years, huh?  How spectacularly special.

1)  What portion of the topic title was not clear to you?

2)  The attitude of the no-TV type is predictable and oh-so-tired.  Live your life and attend to your own business as you please; but drop the attitude that eschewing a particular mass-media category is some virtue which makes you superior to others or for which you should be admired.

3)  If you truly have not watched television for 20 years you have missed out on 20 years of cultural development, and you are not in any position to judge the quality of television in the 21st Century.  You are missing out on some good shit.  One example:  Archer, which is gut-busting funny.

I dropped cable a year ago, saved me a shit load of money and brain cells.  Kid's didn't mind at all - they didn't even pause.

If you have broadband you have access to nearly everything on television anyway.

Anything worth a crap anyway, I installed a Slingbox at one of my buddies houses to get any Cornhusker games that weren't on broadcast TV

I don't own a television and haven't in more than a decade. Prior to that two or three year window, I hadn't owned a television in about 20 years, too. Know what? There are plenty of things to avoid and plenty of things that are worth seeking out and I do enjoy several television programs that I follow on line or at my partners' place. I also read, a lot. I spend lots of time cooking, which is both my vocation and my avocation. I spend lots of time researching and writing recipes. I ride my motorcycle. I am involved in a polyamorous relationship which keeps me quite busy. I work. I travel. I go out with friends. I get stoned and do absolutely nothing.

Get over yourself. Archer is fucking brilliant.

Main thing about "no TV" is missing out on stuff like "Dancing With People Voted Off The Island " and shit like that. And political ads.

That means no one but you, then?

Quite frankly, I could care less where you get your entertainment. But I do seem to have hit a nerve with my comment. Perhaps someone is feeling the need to defend themselves. My remark was not to make me feel superior. It was in reference to your completely idiotic remark that, "and frankly, if you do not enjoy Archer you are not really High-Street material." Who are you to decide that due to a program on the idiot box, someone belongs or does not belong anywhere?

But you seem to care that we know where you do and do not get yours.  You cared enough to post on a thread about a subject which you know nothing about, to proclaim your pride in knowing nothing about it.

But I do seem to have hit a nerve with my comment. Perhaps someone is feeling the need to defend themselves.

The "nerve" you hit is my mounting irritation with people--and you are legion--who act like snobs about stuff that it it is simply not rational to feel superior about.

Who are you to decide that due to a program on the idiot box, someone belongs or does not belong anywhere?

Took that offhand line to heart, did you?  Who hit whose "nerve"?

I never heard of Archer, so i found this on youtube.  I could watch it - i like this kind of humor.  (I will forego the 'high street material' comparison.  I see no reason to hurt someone by claiming they belong here.)
