Hey, why not? The M224 is light enough to carry in a backpack although carrying around enough rounds might tax you a bit.  I wouldn't choose a mortar as a self defense weapon unless your attacker stays 500 yards or more away, but to each his own.

This it typical panic buying driving up prices.  All will settle down, including prices, when the press, the Pres, and legislators back off the subject of gun control legislation.

Yeah, just make your own. Just obey the dozen or so Federal regulations and don't make the rounds explosive and I think you will be fine.

He's such a great salesman that he snookered LaPierre & Co. into fabricating a myth that the ATF would swoop down on their homes in black helicopters to take away their muskets, thus replenishing the ranks of militia volunteers who otherwise would have been content to sip Bud Lite and watch Survivor reruns.  Or something like that.  Thank god all that artifice has reminded us of our Sacred Right to own semi-automatic weapons.

Isn't it terrible that there are so many redneck cretins out there that they can buy up all of the guns and ammunition in the whole country, keeping hard working gun makers working triple shifts just to keep up with demand? Maybe it's all part of Our Dear Leader's secret master plan to take credit for a strong manufacturing sector.
