Just another little bite out of your personal privacy.  As reported by that right wing news organization Reuters.

The Obama administration is drawing up plans to give all U.S. spy agencies full access to a massive database that contains financial data on American citizens and others who bank in the country, according to a Treasury Department document seen by Reuters.

Again, nothing to see here.  It's all perfectly legal thanks to legislation passed over ten years ago.  Surely you remember the patriot act?  How about the homeland security act?

Surely you remember how we were rooting out terrorists and waving flags and making ignorant statements a bout freedom fries and pseudo-liberty.

Still, I had hopes we'd see changes to all that under Obama but he's been just as eager to expand the powers of his office, to say nothing of the nation's security agencies, as Bush and his cronies were.

Yes, it's cosmic american joke.  Each president does the same shit, they just have different fan clubs.

Obama was very idealistic at first.  Hell, even Bush Sr and W were idealistic at first.  But all that changed when the practical realities were explained to them.  That's why it is a fools game to be political party partisans.

Ever stop to wonder why social problems will only be dealt with after they reach a boiling point?  Because our leaders learned from the past.  There is only one thing any army cannot defeat, an energized and FOCUSED public that demands change.  So,they work tirelessly to keep the public divided and unfocused.

Especially because he campaigned for his first term on the explicit promise that he would eliminate or seriously limit the abuses being perpetrated under the guise of the Patriot Act. He promised to close Gitmo, stop warrantless wiretaps, pull out of Iraq and roll back the Patriot Act. How's that going? He hired Clinton to fly all over the world apologizing for slights new and old and the net result is that Iraq is falling back into anarchy, Afghanistan is back in the heroin business and run by local warlords, Gitmo is still busy torturing people who were flunkies or bankers for al Quaida, the North Koreans are boiling over and we are all waiting for Iran to nuke Israel or vice-versa. Silly rabbit, everyone knows you don't hire a Democrat to do foreign affairs. But at least we can sleep soundly knowing that when we drop a drone-fired missile into someone's bedroom in Pakistan and kill everyone in the compound down to the daughter of the maid, the final Fuck You to the sleeping Muslim is that a fudge packer might have been pushing the button. Yay team!

RT, this is not politics.  This is a discussion regarding the threat to your personal privacy.  History tells us that ignoring these threats lead to oppression and it is apathy which paves the way.  If that is not of interest to you, I suggest you walk away from the computer and tune in Judge Judy for personal enlightenment.

Roger this has complete faith that the leaders will look out for his best interests and will always do what is best for the country.  What could go wrong?

I think the point has been made (over and over) that your protests regarding personal privacy should have started almost twelve years ago when the sitting President was a Republican.

My protests regarding infringement by the government on privacy and other freedoms go back to the Nixon era.  The fact that Republicans did it too in no way diminishes the fact that Obama, aided by newer technology, is taking this to a whole new level.  If you feel it's OK because Republicans did it too, then I suggest you forget all this and join RT on the couch watching the Bachelor and American Idol.

Oh well.  It wouldn't have worked out anyway.  She is way too persnickety for my tastes.  I can imagine her saying, 'you want to do WHAT?'

No, I feel that Pandora's Box got opened, and we didn't kill those responsible and shut it back up.  So fuck us with a shovel.

We and our fellow Americans sold our liberty for security, and you know Benjamin Franklin said about that.

Yup, our failure to heed Ben and Ike set our path to Huxleyism, please excuse me now whilst I go watch an entertaining sporting event instead of being concerned about the actions and motives of our government.

Like i have said in many different ways - it doesn't fucking matter.

The most recent seminal event that caused all people with half a brain to distrust the gov't was when not one single banker went to jail for fraud in the 2008 financial collapse.

That happened under gop rule, the bankers were bailed out, when over 90% of the american public was against it.  Then it happened again under democrat rule.  And still, not one banker has been charged or investigated.

Let he, that has an ear, hear.  Had they been allowed to collapse, as is the cleansing agent in capitalism, we would be free of the corporate corruption in our gov't.  But, as it is, we will only become more and more corrupt, while partisans avoid fixing the problem by trying to blame the other guy.

So you're saying the solution is a more capitalist solution?  This is unheard of!  We should vote in more politicians with socialist tendencies to fix it!  More Obaaaama!
