And one night I wondered, Where is this church? I got on Google Earth, and I was 'walking down the road,' and I did a 360 view. And I saw a 'For Sale' sign sitting in the front yard of a house. Right away it hit me, Oh my gosh, I could buy a house in front of the WBC!

Since when are churches, excluding the Vatican, of course, located in "compounds"?

I mean, Rule #1 should be you have doors that face the street, even if they're locked at night.

Last remnant of the Roman Empire, where else would they be located but in a fortress compound?

I'm not too surprised the author and the Phelps lady got on so well.  Apart from his stance on gays, old Fred is a liberal.  He's a Democrat, backed Al Gore, and thought Saddam was the savior of Iraq.  Although, he does believe Obama is the Antichrist, but then he has lots of company there.

Phelps has run in various Kansas Democratic Party primaries five times, but has never won. These included races for governor in 1990, 1994, and 1998, receiving about 15 percent of the vote in 1998. In the 1992 Democratic Party primary for U.S. Senate, Phelps received 31 percent of the vote. Phelps ran for mayor of Topeka in 1993 and 1997.

Please Phrd - everyone who attended the mandatory government classes in high school knows that primary elections are internecine runoffs within the two controlling political parties; in many places you cannot even vote in the primary if you aren't a party member.  Phelps wants to make noise so he blindly picked a party and threw his name into the hat.
