I shared this with the family last night. If it had lasted longer, I think I would of made some popcorn.

There more tactful ways of saying this, I suppose, but 20 years ago these wide eyed, nigger rich Bolsheviks throttling their new found bling were lucky if they could pony up for black market blue jeans and 20 year old Volgas, never mind contraband cameras.

Truthfully? Nothing. I've had my own fill of homicidal motorists circling Boston on Rt 128 and their heart stopping, seat soiling, Hallmark moments. It's our last officially sanctioned blood sport.

I just wish they were admissible as evidence over here in the "free" world. Try that shit around here and find yourself doing 30 days for "illegal wiretapping" or some such nonsense. "National Security" is the last thing you will hear before the doors slam shut.

Meanwhile, except for upskirts of the wealthy and modest, and not modestly wealthy either, commercial drones get carte blanche. Dashcam adoption may accelerate regardless as crippled state and municipal budgets push our cops to compensate for their lost details, their lost virility and resulting erectile dysfunction.

Perhaps it's more about the dangers those servants face from an abandoned generation of minorities and poor rendered forever unemployable due to the drug war and our obsessive desire to forever imprison anyone for even the slightest crime.

Coincidentally I just bought an in-car camcorder.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/221096296986?ss … K:MEWNX:IT
From ShenZhen to the East Coast in 13 days (including the holiday). Direct from China IS the new WalMart and the selection is better.
To amble back to my point, I almost ran over a deer last week and I've have had some close calls with other irate drivers, so I see this as a CYA. Not only that, the thing is battery powered and I hope to be able to use it to record my visits to customer homes. Another CYA for a guy who has to visit lonely widows in the middle of the day (or something like that).

That's a great deal. Let us know if it's really as "set and forget" as it should be. Did you get one for the rear too?

Forgive me for raining on the spy porn parade but did you follow your link to the sample video? I was amused to see the "real long cycle video without frame missing, rather than the software modification for avoiding frame missing, true non-frame missing car video recorder" misses frames like nobody's bidness at all resolutions. Lyin' chinnee. You're better off with a GoPro.

HA! Quality from China? They can build it and cheap, but it's like there's no quality control.
Ok, here's the quick day one review. 3 1/2 hours in the car and 30 min in a meeting.
The picture quality is really not all that good. Since there's no IR filter built in, and color is so-so. Focus could be better, too. The picture is fine at about 15 feet, but far away stuff is way off. The files produced are 1.5Gb each in AVI format. That's about 10 minutes each. I saw a guy run a stop light, and it all looked pretty good, except I couldn't read the license number.
It did pretty well as a personal audio recorder. Sound was acceptable, and since its pretty small, no one even noticed that I had dropped something other than a cell phone on the table. I used Audacity to extract the audio to an mp3 and threw out the AVIs.
There's no software, you don't need any. What would the software do anyway?
It's cute, but not a recommended buy.
On a side note:
I've bought plenty of stuff from other manufacturers as well. Mostly just component parts, though (LEDs, power supplies, and the like). I've generally done pretty well, but I don't expect a lot either.
For products like these cameras, the Chinese seem to be taking off the shelf boards and case parts, loading some kind of OS, and making a product. SeedStudios builds little open source products and sells direct from China, and they're pretty open about the process. These other guys all have something to hide. You open the case, and find that all the chips have had their numbers filed off.

I love russian driving videos.
My favorite one of this set is the one where a truck is pulling out onto the road, about a quarter of a mile away. There is plenty of time to analyze the situation, get a cup of coffee, walk the dog and call your mom before the driver is upon the truck. So does the russian driver;
a) slow down and possibly go around the truck?
b) just hold course and speed steady until he runs smack into it?
I'll bet fifteen minutes after the wreck, his vodka soaked brain said, 'hey, we could have just slowed down and went around that truck', then it said, 'don't be silly, we are russians'.
