I have a similar collection. Since my mum was serving in the Army during the war, my grandmother saved all the Life magazines for her to read when she got back. Consequently, I have a collection of every one from 1940 through 1952. My sons enjoyed reading them and they came in handy for several school projects and papers when they were younger. The filtering of information during the war years (and likely all other times) was rampant in the magazine.
