OK, I'll posit a theory. They are emptying the embassies because the administration knows what really went down in Bengazi - gun-running and probably some MUCH more dirty deeds - and they fear that the press, Congress, et al are very close to exposing it... they are fairly certain, given the nature of the shit that was happening, that the news will cause some major backlash in the Middle East so they are clearing out as many folks as they can so they don't end up with yet another Bengazi slaughter on their hands. So, empty them out and blame Al-Qaeda 'threats'... they look like they're being proactive and they piss on the bad guys.

Why don't we take a page from the Ruskie's KGB playbook and just 100% staff our embassies with CIA, NSA, {Black OPS}, etc.?
