How dare he attempt to abridge the god-given right to have a private arsenal!

I would LOVE to find one of these for my Parabellum.

Oh the masses have spoken and the deal is done, there is no going back; it would be nice if people would stop going on like its going to be reversed at some point, all the noise gives me a headache. Can't these folks take "Yes" for an answer?
So far as the drum magazine for the parabellum, when qualifying with the pistol my absolute favorite part was the magazine change during rapid fire. Nothing better exemplified your skill and focus as maintaining a tight group whilst dropping one mag and inserting the next from your deuce belt.

Most add on drum magazines are sold as "novelty" items for a good reason, they don't work for shit.

This.
There is a very good reason that they never see military service.

Actually the SAW (of my day) had a nice "drum" magazine, however you can't compare the gun show shit to military grade weapons. But then again why would you need that except as a novelty.
I'm looking to get into black powder so if anyone has any favorite links I'd be very appreciative.

Rifle or pistol? Modern or historical?
For the modern rifles, I can't say enough good things about CVA. Their customer support is second to none, they have a lifetime warranty and my inline 209 is as accurate to 150 yards as any one of my other large caliber rifles, though bullet drop is, of course, much more.

Of my day too, and it still sees service in a variety of configurations.
The "drum" you speak of was actually a plastic container that clipped to the receiver and held a belt of linked 5.56 (200 rounds I think). It was/still is capable of using the same magazines as the M-16/M-4, but that never really went as well as advertised, particularly if you hit the switch to go from 600 RPM to 1000.
Source: I was a SAW gunner for a period of time.
Personally, I only liked the "drum" when we were moving up to an objective. Once rounds started moving downrange, I always prefered to have the belts loose, as the "drum" would sometimes cause binding.
Fun Fact:
For a while, FN had a serious problem with the latch used to allow the "rapid" swapping of barrels during heavy usage. Often, you would switch barrels, then when you pulled the trigger allowing the bolt to move forward, the energy was enough to knock the new barrel loose. this is not optimal when there is a round going off in the chamber at the time....

I have put a few SAW (various configurations) rounds down range. It felt good.
The effective range is less than the M60, however, it is more mobile. I believe the M27 IAR is being fielded now.

Oh, yeah, I totally agree. But the damned thing does have a certain 'cool' factor.

Amusingly, the one for the Luger is probably one of the most service worthy I can think of. the Tommy gun drums at 50 rounds were OK, but at 100 had serious binding issues if they were even remotely dirty.

Which is why idiots who prefer form over function waste money on them. If you need a totem to reinforce your manhood you'll be better off wearing skirts.

Actually I'm pretty anti-sidearm as most deaths in this country are (as I've noted previously) suicide or close by a family relation with a pistol. You just have to work a lot harder with anything else. Modern black powder is my current intention but I have a lot to learn which is why I asked.
The boys want to learn to hunt and I want to teach them but it's been a few decades and I need to get back up to speed. Mass is fussy about long rifles so BP(?) and Archery appear to be the way to go. Any links would be much appreciated.
(Oh - Big Cat: Your momma wasn't worth the price! There you have your piss and vinegar big guy.)

Not really, with skirts you're usually supposed to wear underwear.

That depends on the character and attitude of the wearer.

Not with regards to kilts. If you're wearing underwear with a kilt you're either not a true Scotsman, you're a poser, or both.

I wasn't talking about the kilts.
