No offense Em, but I always believed that half the men who joined the Marines did so because they had cool uniforms.  Now your Commander In Chief wants everyone to wear women's lids.  They even have the balls to name the hat after a Medal of Honor recipient. Good luck on the recruiting efforts.

He's right, Em. I know, huh? Young stud arrives home on leave, all the girls swoon and pretty soon, the recruiter's busy, even after Joey ships home in a box. Joey was his real name. Still planted up the street. New flag every memorial day.

Phreddy's right.  Obama's cross-dressing marine fetish has gone too far.  Before long, combat gaffs will be mandated.

I'm torn on the change, this proposed cover is much more historic and the current "bottle cap" cover is a bit on the ridiculous side.  It does look a little French but the French being some of the toughest bastards out there I don't take that as an insult.

In the end it is the Commandant's decision to make and my opinion doesn't really matter.  Now, square up that uniform and fall into rank you fucking turds, who the fuck asked what you thought anyway?

Bye the way that is a Navy Cross on his chest as well.  Yup, I'd wear that cover with pride.

I hate the new toppers as well, but I'd never tell this guy that, either.  Trust me on this one.

Daly was a God among gods.  There is no disputing this.  As for the cover - it's a fucking hat.  I dare any civilian chest thumper to talk some shit about that cover to a Marine wearing one.  Female Marine for that matter.  I'll buy the popcorn.

Em, us Rangers understand about Pentagon douche waffles fucking with our headgear....

It has happened 19 times out of 3468 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:T … recipients

Most during the Civil War, by far the conflict with the most awards in general.

Edit-

check out this guy - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrick_Mullen_(Medal_of_Honor)

Two MOH awards with a month and a half.

double edit-

It seems quite a few of the Navy submissions for double awrd recipients involved saving someone from drowning?!?  Fucking Navy...

The CMoH has changed a lot over the years; since WW-I you definitely have to be a stud to win that award.

I suppose I shouldn't harass you Em about the cover.  Here's what the Coast Guard was planning for us to wear when I enlisted.  I wore them while serving in the Honor Guard, but they dropped the idea soon afterward.  They looked pretty cool for ceremonial events, but were pretty impractical on board ship.  (No, that's not me under that lid)

Actually I like that cover, it has a lot of historic significance.  The only covers I don't like are the Navy baseball caps, it makes them all look like a bunch of farmers or some such.

Well and I should add that I despise the current Navy trend towards cammies; WTF sailor boys - if you are a sailor show some balls and be proud of that fact - hell I hated being deployed afloat.  Particularly on an LST.

Baseball caps look good on NCIS and CGIS personnel.

James Montgomery Flagg didn't believe there was anything homo about the armed services, not at all.

The only homo thing I ever saw in my military career was homophobic; who would believe 70 guys could be in one small shower room at the same time and never get within six inches of each other?

Phreddy gets upset at a move to save the taxpayer a few bucks and Emmeran talks about 6 inches in a shower room with 70 guys in it.... this thread makes no one look good.

I was going to embed Prince's Raspberry Beret just for fun but it is content locked on YouTube, you'll just have to play it in your head.

From the insignia on his beret, it appears he was a french horn player in the marching band.  I've seen more elaborate band uniforms, but what the hell, he does have medals.  Maybe for dodging mines while strutting down the street.

My beret was black, although today it would be tan. Thanks Eric Shinseki...

That said, I preferred my patrol cap over a fucking wool hat in Georgia any day....
