Police said an Iowa man was arrested after his concealed weapon accidentally fired while he was shopping at Wal-Mart.

Well I have to admit that I graduated from HS a few miles from that area and from experience I know that the beans they sell in the Walmart's in South-east Iowa are particularly dangerous.  I, myself, always toted a .45 when purchasing those particular species of beans.

You have live there to understand how dangerous a town of 4,500 people and beans can be...

This story is a warning to all the idiots who think carrying an automatic with a round in the chamber in your pocket is a great idea.  Your quick draw during a real emergency is just as likely to take the end off your dick as it is to place a pill in your adversary.

So you're classifying this as a warning shot?

Only because it went over the bow and not through the boner.

The trigger safety is your friend.  Also not putting your fucking finger on the trigger until you're ready to shoot something.  But I digress...

Unfortunately for those who have blown holes in their balls, the recent trend in small concealed carry automatics is to manufacture them without safeties.  Cops always carry their pistols loaded with safety off, so wannabes think they should do the same.  However, a quick draw from a holster goes a lot smoother than one from inside your pocket.  And then there's the training.

Funny, the Military forbids this action.  Just flip the safety switch with your thumb fool.  Hell most of us didn't even carry with a round in the chamber, if you can't cock on the draw you don't know what you're doing anyway.

Fucking wannabe's drive me crazy (and that includes the cops).

Em, if you read the article, they happened in the past.

FD-
I have a CCW.  I generally don't carry, but when I do, it's in CR1. 1911 because...

I RO a lot of matches locally, and I disagree with the amount of time it takes to draw rack and fire.  Even Grand Masters can count on at least 1 more second from buzzer to first shot.  That said, these are people who shoot all the time and damn well know what they are doing.  Joe Walmart with their POS pocket 9 is just asking to get shot and add another gun to the growing pool of "location unknown".

My complete agreement on everything except the need for quickdraw, that's a little bit over-theatrical at this point.  Even in the wild west it was more myth than reality, just calmly draw your weapon, rack a round, aim well and shoot well.  We've seen countless examples of cops, who get plenty of range time, unleashing 11 rounds and not hitting a god-damned thing.

Statistics say that the majority of police officers never fire at a perp in real life anyway.

However you like Phreddy - whoever carries loaded and without a manual safe is looking to shoot someone.

I think by loaded with the safety off he means condition 3, not condition 0.  It was a slightly confusing way to word it, assuming that's what he meant.
