Sidepics, a simple random image swapping routine, evolved from a bulletin board feature I wrote 25 years ago as a DOS batch file and ported to a linux bash script 10 years later. Square rewrote that in python 5 years ago but its primitive function remains remarkably the same; iconic miniatures tweaked until they pop and randomly swapped at regular interval.

Sidepics has no subject catalog, preferential display, voting or upload function because no one's showed much interest.  If that's what you want, speak up and lend a hand.

I'll speak up (I'm in favor), but I'm not sure how I could lend a hand other than contributing more sidepics.

I like 'em pretty much as they are... randomly variable and decorative bits at the margins which serve no real purpose, and without a chance to vote on liking what you get or not.

I like to think of them as the foreskins of the forum.

I'm with Sailor on this, the sidepics are the most Zen thing we have on High Street. They don't judge, they don't complain, they can't be used, they just are.

Ditto, they make me happy.

Edit:  I still favor all banners and sidepics being safe for work (or children in the house); porn/gore surprises really can ruin a day.

That's a different story. I could go through all the active banners and cut all the Clinton/Gore in a few minutes, but tits and assless are part of the HS heritage. Beyond that, censorship is not an activity I'm keen on getting into. There are several banners (and even a couple of banner posters) I think we'd be better off without but that in itself isn't enough reason for me to cut them. What do you think the voting system is for?

Most of the nasty bits are only displayed to registered users, so you have only yourself to blame. If you are surprised a quick click on the offending banner will cause it to reset.

The twisted marriage of a slot machine and 3-card Tarot. Payout is fleeting but they're [mostly] cherries.

Post your favorite art and see what we can do with it.

I'm not complaining, just voicing; you do see that I'm still here.

Guess I should clarify. I meant I was in favor of the upload function part. I'm neutral on the rest.

No issues here. I just don't memorize them.

They seem to change often enough that I don't grow weary of them. Also, there are regularly a few new pictures to catch my eye. All's well for me.

Everything is fine just the way it is.  That's actually my mantra to ward off fear of death, but it applies to the side pics too.

George agrees.  George is not a technical asset to this wonderful community, but George always shares any image she finds interesting and/or appalling.
