Let me answer my own question, General Atomics is a privately held company that makes our drones - funny thing that.

Ah GA, formerly the nuclear energy division of General Dynamics, our builder of nuclear subs and creator of the ICBM.

They came from the twisted minds of the very men Eisenhower warned you about when he voiced the dangers of allowing a permanent Military/ Industrial complex to run the world.

Calved off in the '60s and sold to Gulf/Chevron. The perfect marriage of big oil and military contractors. When the bottom fell out during the Reagan years for nuclear fueled power systems, Chevron sold it all to a private individual for bargain basement pricing of $60m. Owned by the Blue brothers ever since. He created an aeronautical division to score the CIA contract for the Israeli developed Predator.

The Bush wars resulted in a buying spree that made them huge. I would guess they have got to be the largest private contractor owned by 2 individuals.

An interesting anecdote is that by 2011 all the Predators and their siblings had accumulated 1 million flight hours over 16 years. In the next two years, 2011 -2013, they accumulated the next 1 million flight hours.

On a mission from god, are they?

Not that it matters but their sales skills suck.

I'll propose the Modified Turing Test. Could you tell the difference between a robot operating it's "appendages" independently and a servo mechanism controlled by a remote human?

Soon the day will come when one of these mechanical marvels will have to decide whether you live or die. It will likely be an autonomous car that gets you.

We can not live under the veil of "inappropriate discrimination" forever.

So they taught a computer to sleep until noon, not do it's chores (why didn't you run the batch jobs we scheduled?  Oh, I forgot) or clean it's room.  Responses like: uh-huh, why are you so mean to me and can I just finish this round of Call of Duty.

I'm not sure I see that as a major accomplishment.

Sure it is. When was the last time you only wished you could pull the plug on your kids? When they woke you this morning?

Chili's has a box on their tables that have practically eliminated wait staff. You still need somebody to deliver the food from the kitchen or get you extra napkins but you can do everything else through the box.
