Women may notice itching or soreness of the genitals, discomfort with urination, or a discharge with an unpleasant fishy smell.

Actually Emmeran, the gays may be the lucky ones in this study. This sounds like they are suggesting that the bacteria passes from the vagina, through the urethra and into the prostate. There is no direct access to the prostate from the rectum because the prostate and rectum are separated by the rectal wall. Now if the same bacteria is found in men's butt holes, well then the gays have got a problem.

HPV, on the other hand, spread cancer wherever it splashes.

According to my proctologist, just ignore everything you read about prostate cancer, except go get checked every year after age 40.  And that's not a sure bet either, because they can't even come up with a definitive test for PSA levels.  All you can do is establish a baseline and have the doc feel around for lumps and size change, and have a biopsy if anything is amiss.
