Looking at Vizio, Samsung, LG in the 50-55 inch range, 1080 to 4k.  Still have a Philips 26inch from 1998 that won't fucking DIE.  Anyway, refresh rates etc.  Any suggestions Peeps?

Much appreciated.

I like my aging Panasonic plasma, hope it lasts as long as the 20 year old RCA it replaced.  There's not much left in plasma, I think Samsung is still making them.  What you're looking at are both good bang for the buck choices.  The Vizio has more HDMI ports.  I've found two isn't enough, unless you're hooking it to a receiver that you can use to hook up everything else.

Samsung is the only choice nowadays for the best picture and all around other options.

Vizio is your best choice for picture and value.

I very much like my LED Aquos (it even looks Sharp), but nothing can rival taking your ass down to the shop and finding the one that YOU think looks best.

Just got back from BestBuy.  Love the Vizio picture quality, but like the features on the Samsung.  As I no longer even have paid TV (1996!), I get most my viewing via dvd (sony blue ray player with excellent web interface) or Netflix off same device.  We are looking at a 50 inch Samsung Smart TV via Groupon, or the Vizio 55 inch.

Thanks for the feedback, you are all the best!
