My wife's out of town this weekend so I'm going to pick up a large Gourmet Delight pizza (thick crust, double cheese, jalapeņos, anchovies, and pineapple) after a long craft beer session at the pub tonight. Drop on by tomorrow!

My wife-unit is gone too. It's homemade ale and curry for me. I'm going to have to sleep with my head out the window.

I've never actually had anchovies on a pizza - please explain the point?

Sorry Em, I don't understand the point of never having had anchovies on pizza. Is it something to do with being an uptight asshole?

I will go out on a limb and say that most people who do have anchovies on pizza do it because they enjoy the flavor.

I do understand that anchovies are the basis of a true catsup, just never had them or had anyone recommend them.  At this point I shan't have them unless they are on a pizza ordered by someone who orders them regularly from a known good pizzeria.  I'm am more afraid of a bad experience than your off the cuff comment...

Also, I don't much like seafood - tends to makes me a tad ill.

Try them straight on toast with a bit of butter on the toast.

Thanks, but I think I'll wait until someone does the personal introduction thing; at least then I'll have someone to bitch at if I don't like it.

Anchovies are the basis of Caesar salad dressing and are often added to soups and sauces as a flavor enhancer. These days I can hardly cook without anchovy paste. If any seafood makes you queasy it might be a low-grade allergy.
