Cocaine works pretty well to "bump" up the metabolism for a bit.

Yeah, I tried that for a time, along with meth. Both are pretty good temporary fixes. Fortunately my skepticism about the long-term health benefits won out over the short-term euphoria.

I have no interest in cocaine, but I still want a coca bush out in the garden.

I had a few. Makes great houseplants. Kept them in the big bay windows facing the street. No one knew what they were. Made great tea and just keeps producing more hearty leaves as you pick em.
