Even the disenfranchised need their spokespeople.

I couldn't watch that video, couldn't take the crazy nasal tone. But if you follow this story, many of the accusations against the EPA are spot on. There are thousands of these mines in Colorado, and they have been dribbling toxic sludge for the last hundred years. Some of our watersheds are polluted, others are not.
In this particular situation, the EPA has been threatening to designate this incredibly scenic valley a Superfund site for years, threatening its livelihood as a tourist destination. While the need for that designation was previously debatable, it's much less so now. After causing this disaster, the EPA is ironically stating that the river will get better all by itself. That's a remarkable double standard coming from them. It is no wonder that every anti-government crazy is latching onto this.
Be sure to read this letter to the editor, authored by a professional geologist & published in the local paper six days before the spill, it's a fascinating and damning indictment of the EPA's activity in this area: http://www.silvertonstandard.com/news.php?id=847
