I think they should give the inmate the choice of chair, hanging, injection, guillotine or firing squad. It's more cruel to make them choose. Failure to choose results in a random choice.

Sometime back, wife and I were tooling around the old country and stumbled upon Rothenburg. We stayed within the walls for a few days. While exploring, we came across the Crime & Torture Museum.
Of all the grizzly apparatus on display, 'twas the Breaking Wheel which got my attention.
Not the way to go.
