or 3 strikes and I'm out. Either way, my last try for Manaslu. Getting to be pretty spendy and I already tanked twice.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manaslu

Leaving tomorrow for my last try. My wife has my log in info here so if I croak she will let you all know so you can gloat.

I have a fair amount of guilt about leaving my dog for 34 ish days. She has 1 chemo treatment left next monday that my wife is taking her to. The vet says that it should buy her about a year plus or minus. I won't be leaving her alone again once I get back. I am planning on Denali for 2018 but I doubt she will be around by then.

I already have paid $22k and have been training like a mother for a year. No booze, drugs or ciggies. I don't like heading out with guilt. I feel it is bad juju.

Later, gators.

I'll never understand and won't insult you with my thoughts on the subject.

Just try not to step on your stupid over-inflated balls on your journey to nowhere.

Good luck and remember: All that training is for the descent.

Cheers

I am back (not that anyone cares, I'm sure)

The mountain finally allowed me to stand on it's summit. It was fucking amazing and humbling.

I lost a small chunk of my nose to frostbite. I don't think it will change my movie star good looks.

I pooped my pants at approx 22000' because I got a bug.

My dog is in remission.

I am going to bed now because the fucking jet lag is brutal from that trip.

Oh, In case you hadn't heard. Donald Trump will be president.

Welcome back, we would have missed you, but if your dessicated  body had remained on a ledge somewhere high and thin, you would have been a legend around here. Not sure as a fool or a hero, but notable just the same.

To Em, your views on useless endeavors well taken, I would propose that anything that gets someone to put down the boob tube, get up off the couch and go out into nature is good for them and everyone around them. Connecting to the natural world can lead to all kinds of decent things. With the added bonus that something that requires that much work requires finding motivation and at least some focus.

I agree completely, I personally just don't get distance running and mountain climbing but will train like an idiot myself for other types of ventures of equal or stupider value.

Glad to hear that your pooch was OK upon your return. As much as the physical strains of adventuring can tax your body, knowing that you left a sick family member at home to go galivanting off around the globe must have been difficult on a mental level. Just don't break it to him about Trump, he may go into remission.

I felt pretty shitty about leaving but I spent an absolute shit pile of money that was non-refundable. The vet said remission lasts on average of 12 to 18 months so I was pretty confident she wouldn't die before I got back. I won't be going anywhere else that my dog can't go with me for a long stretch now.

I better call the strip club and see what they consider to be an allowable service animal.

Congrats, Bigcat.  I nearly died my first time over 20,000 feet and only got that high again one more time, so I admire those who get as high as you did.  I am glad you only lost a small piece of your schnoz, and that you are going to have plenty of time to pal around with your dog.

And if we'd acquired a picture of it there's a fair to even chance it'd been made a banner.

Thanks man. She has been glued to me since I got back. I played so much catch with her yesterday that my elbow is sore. (not from jacking either, it is sore in a different spot than the "jacking hinge").

Some people it's the elbow.  I took you for a wrist guy.

With me it's the shoulder...

I used to be a wrist guy but I wore it out. Both of them...at the same time.
