I loved "I Spy" when I was a kid (also "Man From Uncle", "The Avengers" and occasionally "The Saint"). A few years back I grabbed a few of the old "I Spy" episodes with the idea of re-watching the series (because, you know, you can find anything on the Internet). I couldn't make it through even one episode. The pacing was unbelievably slow. The show was full of these thirty second pauses where absolutely nothing happened, except maybe they were walking down a corridor. Rather than showing them entering, and then cutting to them exiting at the other end, they just followed along as they walked the whole distance. In the hyper, ADD driven, fast paced media world of today, they would squeezed a whole scene into that pause. I could barely keep my eyes open.

Me too. In fact, I've almost gotten into accidents because I was watching something like that.
If I watch that gif for long enough, eventually I start hearing jungle drums like from the old Tarzan movies. It's odd.

There was a great MAD Magazine spoof of I Spy, mostly pointing out that they mumbled their way through the episode. Also, it's sad that most Americans think you mean Iron Man and The Hulk when you say, "The Avengers", and not John Steed and Emma Peal ("M" Appeal, get it? wink, wink, nudge nudge).

You probably remember "The Prisoner" too. Weird one, that.

For a while I lived not far from The Village where the Prisoner was filmed in Wales. That was one fucking eerie place, particularly on Sunday afternoons when the tourists had all gone. Hard to explain why, but it was just the strangest place to wander around with nobody there. Still gives me the willies. The beach and village still look just like in the show, BTW.
Loved the show, though. Probably the most enigmatic show ever filmed for TV.

Forty five minutes ago, shopping at the local market, guy crashed his cart into mine and I just smiled. "Adorable, ain't she?"
Ever watched two grown men, giggling their asses off like school girls?

My memories of it are pretty fuzzy. I was just a kid when it ran. Mostly I remember the mood it left me with.
