Personally, I'll settle for a dignified death.

Whereas I hope for a seriously undignified and disturbing, newsworthy death.

I want to live long enough to be a burden to everybody.

Five more years, say?

I want to live forever.  What, am I supposed to die just because I'd miss people?  I miss people right now.  Is it going to get boring?  I don't think so.  Death is always there for whoever wants to take it.  If I had the same option for life I'd grab it in a heartbeat.  Stories about how terrible it would be to live forever are just there to help deal with the horror of knowing that sooner or later we are all taken, no matter what we do.

The guys who already live forever don't seem to have much fun. I mean, don't tell me you haven't met up with this stiff...

Why live forever when you can be born again in Me?

Especially when they dip you into water to accomplish it.

Didn't realize until today that hideous alter piece was a fraud. Scared the living bejebus out of me as a kid, though. Christ on crutches, talk about a death obsessed culture.

At the Convent of the Ursulines in Quebec City, they have - I believe - Champlain's skull on display, although it's in the museum and not the church. Freaky enough.

The statues at the local cathedrals used to freak me the fuck out when I was a kid.  There would be glass cases with life-sized bloody Jesuses (Jesii?), creepy looking old men...   *shudders*

I want to die peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming in terror like his passengers.

I'm not normally one to tout a drug, but this seems like it might be important:

https://www.wired.com/story/this-pill-p … kel-a-pop/

I have a friend who takes this for diabetes, but I don't think he knows about the other supposed qualities. What impressed me was not so much the fact that it may add years (most people in their eighties or beyond I've spoken with are rather ambivalent about living so long), but rather because it seems to have a significant effect on the quality of life of however many remaining years one has.

Knee Jerk Reaction:  If proven to be true, some wealthy douchebag will purchase the rights and begin selling the pills for a truly astronomical price per pill, because what price would the uber-wealthy pay to live if not longer at least better until then end?  The poor people with diabetes that have been using the pills for their intended benefit will be priced out and forced to use a substandard replacement.
