Office workers vs outdoor labor. If you can't touch the metal or concrete during that part of the day then you may as well just go to lunch and come back when it cools off.

When the levante blows in the summer the siesta on the Costa Del Sol runs from noon until 5pm. It's like standing in front of a hairdryer all day.

Yeah, one of my young Marines managed a "Snap-On" scar in his palm by picking up a wrench mid-day up in the Stumps (at the EAF) without a glove. It was August and the Mojave isn't very forgiving that (or any other) time of year.
