I think what you mean is "They had to take a lot of shots in the studio before they got it exact right." (if you look real close you can see the reflection of the cameraman on the leg of the lunar lander!)

That was Geologist Harrison Schmitt, the only civilian (to date) who has been to the moon. He wouldn't shut up about rocks so they left him there.
