I know, never pick up trash, right?  No one would ever pick up a can of dip laying on the side of the road.

Leave it to the Russians to put their agent in a cute gift box and stash it like its important.

If I recall, the Russian response to the original accusation was a snide, "No one has ever seen novichok outside of a lab, what makes you think it was our stuff?"

Now the Brits should have a full sample of agent, and a delivery method.  Though, these cases seem to have their unlucky moments and are full of bumbling idiots, so who knows, maybe someone took out Rowley's trash for him while he was in the hospital.

They sure do work hard not to name the brand of perfume. I know it has nothing to do with the case, but I'll still wager they buy plenty of ad space.

I must admit, the Russkies do have a small point here.  "Just because this is the kind of thing we do, what makes you think we did it?"  It played well during the first Cold War, it can play well in this current one that Trump doesn't know anything about too.

There is a point to that up to a point. Trust but verify. Assume to be dissuaded by all sided for their own reasons.

Go figure, Russia isn't the closed, insular society they thought they were:

I guess there's safety in numbers.  There's so many reporters on the story, the Russian don't know who to murder next.
