You shouldn't be able to even call yourself an engineer if you make $9.00 an hour.

Well if the shoe fits, they will make you wear it.

Makes me think of this again from another thread:

At Work, Expertise Is Falling Out of Favor

And while we are at it, lets make a case against the rote belief that grit will see you through.

Ah bias confirmation, my oldest friend, always there whispering in my ear. Telling me what I think I want to hear. Why must he be bundled with such illusion of explanatory depth. Or even as much worse, to succumb to the  grand illusions of competence.
The Curse of Expertise: When More Knowledge Leads to Miscalibrated Explanatory Insight

Oh well that explains it. We are cursed to only think we know what we know and to assume to know what we do not know. Seems to be the only way around this is to realize we know nothing.

kim

Fuck Boeing. I have dead family members and my health is fucked. Track record for avoiding responsibility for deaths: level casual.

This isn't about Boeing Ms. Kim, this is about modern industry as a whole.

Made to Spec. Any engineering that is ultimately specified by the shareholders is doomed to fail.
