...setting the stage for its possible commercial production

Sure wish there was a way a consumer could verify that the synthetic compound they are about to ingest is legitimately what they are expecting... Short of having your own gas chromatograph though, you gotta rely on the old tried and true method of giving some to a wino first, and that would get expensive. Especially when you are buying it by the microgram.

Officers then entered the house to see if anyone else was inside.
“In plain view were psilocybin mushrooms in various stages of cultivation, as well as storage and distribution materials,” police said.
The officers got a search warrant and seized 677 pounds of the mind-altering mushrooms, more than $3,000 in cash, and evidence indicating a “large-scale psychedelic mushroom processing operation,” the statement said.

So, just growing them in the living room?

Also: Wet weight.

Doesn't seem like that's gonna stick.  "To see if anyone else is inside" is far from "reasonable cause for search".

However they do lose all of their 'shrooms.

Especially for what was originally a domestic noise complaint and both parties are already on the front porch and not violent.

Johnson pointed to scare stories from the 1960s about people getting high on hallucinogens and falling from roofs because they think they can fly, but said those cases are rare. “Far more more people have fallen from heights on alcohol… Nonetheless, people have these accidents.”

Oh my yes, remember Art Linkletter's daughter Diane?  That's all we heard about for months, she jumped to her death because she thought she could fly.  Of course dad glommed onto that with both hands and never let go. Even became a anti-drug crusader.  Easier to live with than his daughter being mentally ill and he couldn't do anything about it.  And now, ironically, hallucinogens might have actually helped her administered under a doctor's care.

So here's the deal... Grow your own.  I don't have to tell you where to look, but if you use duckduckgo you can locate spores and grow kits at great prices.

Don't sell them that will get you fucked by the gendarme and the dea like a good friend of mine who just got out of the federal pen for his across border of states fuckwittery.  The dea told him as did the judge if he had been growing them in the quantities that he was caught with (60 pounds and that was a fraction of his monthly sales) and giving them away, no one would of busted him.  They are after the untaxed incomes.  Follow that.

Gift people, lovers friends.

This is the way, and has been for many of us for decades.

Just ask Al Capone.

Don't try to fuck the people by avoiding taxes.

It should be mandatory in Colorado.  Maybe their kids would stop shooting other kids.
