Not to put too fine a point on it, but the writer is wrong on a number of his claims.  California's poverty rate is in the middle of the pack, as are its schools despite the fact that the state's per capita spending on schools is near the bottom.  On roads and bridges, it is bad but not the worst.  On taxes, it is quite not in the top dozen.  But hey, when you want to whine and complain, a little exaggeration is to be expected.
