Well, generations in DC have been schooled in the tricky dicky of that time.
The shenanigans were rife. So is the mix within the halls of power. Even Nixon's legal counsel John Dean married Maureen the best friend of Washington madam Heidi Rikan. Apparently riding shotgun on her big game hunting trips.
Mo and John married shortly before he testified.
Though the Heidi Rikan address book was a who's who of the era, don't fall for the old Gordon Liddy trick of blaming the Deep State for setting up the Watergate break in to bring down Nixon. Seems the claim was the Watergate burglary was all about finding stolen evidence of the sex ring in the DNC's files.
Even more than sex, the Maga crowd loves them some history to their liking.

I met Dean years ago, a friend of ours (this was the 80's) was editing a book of his, etc. Dean seemed a nice guy, at least to my wife and me.
I had a "friend" in the late 1960's-1970's who while plying her trade ended up marrying a congressman from Virginia. Debbie did very well out of that!

Dean's OK, the creepy crawlers were Chuck Colson and G. Gordon Liddy. And Nixon, of course.

Colson was a dark force. Tasked with planting damaging info into the media.
