The "good ole USA" was born out of a gun. Why are we so often shocked to find that it's still an authoritarian entity?
Welcome to November, 1968.

Don't fret yet, it will take a season to get the budget appropriations through. And raise taxes on the lower classes to pay for it.

It may be as big of a success as that gigantic wall he had Mexico construct.

The World Is Healing: Trump Is Already Negotiating Peace, Tariffs, and Immigration Deals
Image posted proudly by some righty pundit anti-interventionist, anti-globalist.
Expectations run high, yet results may not matter for quite some time. I think the smartest thing Trump and his image crafters have ever done, is set the stage to decouple results from reality.
Remember just how many years of never-ending war it took for Bush to be repudiated by republicans and the right wing leaners. So was the grip of the fever dream. Had the real estate market blow out not coincided with 6 years of that travesty, the Bush administration may have gotten away with all the loot.
Wait, they did get away with all the loot, nothing about the recession and loss of political standing for the republicans stopped the profit taking as the course of the wars collapsed. Spending went up into the next administration.

I agree with almost everything Keith Olbermann says about baseball and almost nothing he says about politics. He does have a major point here, though. We elected Biden for what he wouldn't do, but we didn't realize that he and his administration would do almost nothing for four years so as to not be branded as partisan or weaponizing the Legal System or any of the other things Donald did but accused everyone else of doing it. Merrick Garland was the biggest waste of space and position in modern memory. Biden himself did, what? Undo a lot of Donald's maliciousness and pass an Infrastructure package.
For the next six weeks I want to see the actual Dark Brandon in action. Pardoning his kid was a great first step. Why not an Executive Order to drop all tariffs? How about one to declare Mar-a-Lago open for the drilling of oil and gas? How about legalizing marijuana and abortions at a Federal level? I'd have the entire White House Council drop everything they're doing and look for every legal way of screwing Donald before he takes office. And, while we're at it, the IRS has one job for the next six weeks.
