The Proud Boys Just Lost Use of Their Own Name in the Funniest Way
A judge awarded the use of the group’s name and symbols to a church in Washington, D.C.

In June 2023, D.C. Superior Court Judge Neal Kravitz ruled that the destruction of property at Metropolitan AME had been “highly orchestrated” and “hateful and overtly racist conduct,” and granted a $2.8 million default judgment against the Proud Boys—but the group never handed over the money.

Lawyers for the church then sought to satisfy that judgment by having the group hand over something of value: its name. The decision bars the Proud Boys from selling any merchandise with its name or associated symbols without the express permission of the church.

From the Police Blotter so far:

An Indiana man who was pardoned by US President Donald Trump over the US Capitol riot was killed by police during a traffic stop days later.

Matthew Huttle, 42, was shot and killed on Sunday when police pulled his vehicle over, and he allegedly resisted and ended up in an "altercation" with an officer, an Indiana State Police (ISP) statement said.

A Florida man accused of storming the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, has been arrested again a day after President Donald Trump pardoned him.

Politico reports Daniel Ball, 39, was released from pretrial detention in Washington, D.C., Tuesday when his felony assault charges were dismissed as Trump pardoned some 1,500 people charged in the Capitol riots. Ball had been accused of violent acts, including throwing an “explosive device” that disoriented officers in the Lower West End Tunnel and caused hearing loss, as well as throwing “dangerous weapons” at a line of officers protecting the Capitol.

But on Wednesday, Ball was back behind bars for a separate case.
