Back in the day this made sense, or are you assuming that younger people aren't stoned enough to read this?

I remember the Batwinged Hamburger Snatcher from the old National Lampoon. Whether they had the artist's permission to print the stuff, I don't know--but the panels were in color.

Back in the day, this made sense, stoned or not.
I suppose I should have thrown up all three of the links, because they form a still relevant, common narrative - view them in order:
1. http://www.danoneillcomics.com/pdf/godi … sarock.pdf

Sam the 100"% American Dog was the John Bircher of then and the paranoid social/xtian conservative of now. Batwing's list of phrases will still produce the same conclusion. Try and find the equivalent in the works of Crumb et al.

It's actually surprising how much that article gets right. There are exceptions:
A man or woman unable to walk ten miles at a stretch will be regarded as a weakling.
Did Decadence write this part?
These [cooking] laboratories will be equipped with electric stoves, and all sorts of electric devices, such as coffee-grinders, egg-beaters, stirrers, shakers, parers, meat-choppers, meat-saws, potato-mashers, lemon-squeezers, dish-washers, dish-dryers and the like.
