The statistics are for Ontario, but I can't imagine they're much different in many parts of the US.

The other day my Mom managed to shock me by suggesting that she may take up pot smoking in her later years. I think she heard from friends at church that it soothes the aches and pains of old age. I pointed out that the new laws are set up so that she can grow her own. With her green thumb  she could save her entire pew row a great deal of money. She is a national flower judge after all and has managed to create a variety of rose.

Well, Johnny, if she takes you up on that, remember to give me her address.  After all, you know I can be trusted.

I dunno Doug Benson from a load of goats but his current feature is entertaining enough I may book budget airfare to the left coast and back.

For a lot of ageing baby boomers without good retirement plans and medical coverage, the chronic is their best tonic. My mom (age 65) smokes up every night before going to bed to control her arthritis and residual pain from a bout with the shingles. She could get prescription medicine for it but that would cost more than 10 times as much every month as an ounce of weed.

Alas, Virginia doesn't have a medical exemption. But you can smell it coming.
