Sad news... I just got word that Albert Hoffmann past away earlier today. He was 102, and led a life of exploration: inner and outer...

I owe Albert a few incredible days. Too bad he's not around to accept them.
Portentously (though I'm not much given to awe), the banner that appeared when I opened your post was the headphone-wearing cranium, the wrapped sweetie, and the words: Skull Candy.

I was just coming here to post this. So far the info seems to be of the "dubious" nature, but as old as the guy was it's certainly believable.
I heard it here, by some guy who claims to have known him.
Internet rumor: take with grain of salt I guess.

Any news on whether he went out like Huxley did?
He who dies highest gets to be God.

Not so far. His wife past in December (she was in her mid 90's)... I was surprised he lasted as long as he did.

I knew that would come in handy, someday.
Hofmann's death still appears to be eluding both the mainstream press and the druggie press. Only Diggs, Reddits, and other rumor mills are repeating that he has [possibly] passed away. I have no particular reason to doubt that he's died, only that it seems a tad rude to report it before anyone important to his personal life may have decided to confirm.

I was struck again, rewatching parts of Hofmann's Potion just now, how much more vigorous and undiminished by age Albert seemed next to the much younger, now elderly men who participated in the original research.
All except this guy. Know who this is, Dusty?

So much would never have been quite the same without his work.
Just a box of rain -
wind and water -
Believe it if you need it,
if you don't just pass it on
Sun and shower -
Wind and rain -
in and out the window
like a moth before a flame
It's just a box of rain
I don't know who put it there
Believe it if you need it
or leave it if you dare
But it's just a box of rain
or a ribbon for your hair
Such a long long time to be gone
and a short time to be there

Deliberate provocation of mystical experience, particularly by LSD and related hallucinogens, in contrast to spontaneous visionary experiences, entails dangers that must not be underestimated. Practitioners must take into account the peculiar effects of these substances, namely their ability to influence our consciousness, the innermost essence of our being. The history of LSD to date amply demonstrates the catastrophic consequences that can ensue when its profound effect is misjudged and the substance is mistaken for a pleasure drug. Special internal and external advance preperations are required; with them, an LSD experiment can become a meaningful experience.
