I think I've been reading about this movie for years--some low-budget hallucinatory thing about a spaceman, right? Apparently some people think it's genius. I can't remember the title. Is it really worth checking out?

SciFi fiends are so used to dreck they'll cling to any shred of decency. I'd check bit torrent before I shelled out good money for a rental but what the hey, I'm not a sci fi fanboy.

The American Astronaut is one of a very few films that, for me, demands little energy to decode or understand motivations and processions of action while maintaining enough intelligence and communicative hooks to be utterly awesome. That bathroom dance scene -- how many times have you wanted to be able to fuck with someone that beautifully, or wished that the people fucking with you could come up with ways to do it that were as effective and concise? If I ever got a performance review like that, I wouldn't know whether to shit or go blind, but my behavior would certainly change and probably improve. I appreciate that stand-up comic scene as others have described appreciating Seinfeld (which I loathe): it's funny because, from my perspective, it presents a slightly distilled version of reality.
