just so y'all can really hate me...My firm is in asbestos defense...and no, we're not the bad guys.  Almost ALL the companies that used asbestos had no idea of it's harmful effects.  If you want to point the finger, point to Johns-Manville, they were instrumental in hiding the effects of asbestos, and also found criminally negligent. In a court of law.
The real assholes in this biz are the plaintiffs' firms that seek these people out at union halls, hospitals and on TV.  Then, they take over 60% of any settlements won.
Most of the people aren't even sick, and are lifetime smokers.  If it weren't for firms like mine, your insurance rates would be through the roof.  Though I do hope to hear of a few of you contracting mesothelioma...
