A wise old prairie policeman once told me that if you put every farmer who molested his children in jail there'd be no-one left to plow the fields. I think it's time we realized that child molestation is not just a pathology, it's a statistical constant, consequent upon animal evolution, and much more prevalent and "natural" than we'd like to think. The people we catch are just the stupid ones. I'm not saying we should forget about it, or condone it, but it's a sad fact of humanity that we always find somebody to hate. It wasn't long ago that homos were less popular than kiddy-diddlers. (No, pENIx, I'm not comparing the two groups except in terms of probabilistics and social condemnation.) Anyways, whatever, let's llight the traditional bonfire.

Because social condemnation is a good thing, right? I think you may be slightly off the mark on your use of "probabilistics." Homosexuality is no more (or less) pathological than heterosexuality, and shares nothing more than a subset of its members with pederasty, as demonstrated in the general population. The unfortunate thing about social acceptance, however, is that one can always find an age, or a culture, that will accept one behavior or another over the rest. I call bullshit too. The facts remain that most, if not all prostitutes and most, if not all the serial- incarcerated report being molest victims.  Molest victims, as adults, have the highest rates of drug and alcohol addiction as well as suicide among any adult population in America. Just because something is relatively common doesn't make it natural.  Do you think that the prevalence of child beatings will eventually lead to acceptance by society?  You know, theft is pretty common, too.  Maybe we should all stop being so down on thieves.
