The first complaint about that image arrived a week ago in email, fully two months after its first post. I almost complied but then looked at some of the other sidebanners and realized at least 2/3s of those will also irritate someone. And the rest are cats. I asked around quitely for comment and the most definative response was a shrug.
If you're interested in folding side images into your header app, allowing viewers to make their own choices, by all means go for it.

I figured it wasn't too prudish to disable an image featuring nudity, especially when they're shown to guests as well as registered users (and since you seemed to feel the same). If someone has a specific complaint about any other images, I guess they can raise it in the banner thread and we can act on it.

Don't know about O+, but I'm not masochistic enough to take that on. In case anyone cares, right now there are about 450 main banners (650 if you include inactive ones) and about 800 side banner images (and only a handful of disabled ones, mostly because they're the wrong size).

Don't know what I'd like to have happen, but what will happen is that we'll run around in circles for a bit talking about it until someone with access to the server gets sick of all the jawboning and decides to disable the image. Or doesn't.

Hell, the list of potentially offensive images is a mile long (especially if you hate cats). I don't expect the posters here to complain about any but the most egregious. Ultimately it comes down to judgement, and I don't see any High-Streeters aching to institute Puritan values.
Deleting side banners is definitely a no-no, but if they're moved to the disqualified directory they can always be moved back.
