When I was a teenager, way back in the 80's, we had this box on our tv that provided the cable. It had a dial with like 40 channels on it and in between channel 40 and channel 2 was a blank channel.

We drop a bunch of acid and put the dial on the blank channel. This channel would start off on channel 2, then, after about 15 seconds, would go fuzzy and would go to channel 3. This process would repeat through all the channels as long as we left it on "the blank channel". For some reason, we'd watch this for hours.

It explains a lot if you knew me.
