You guys all got the wrong idea of the Phelps clan. They are the best friends the sodomites ever had. They are so offensive (and in such a clean washed american family sense) they force the middle-of-the-roaders to actually take a side on an issue they would rather ignore. White America would rather vote no on gay marriage, make fag jokes and think that all a dyke needs is a good hard cock. Phelps forces them to actually think about the thing, and to decide whether they want to be associated, if only in their own minds, with the guy who thinks dead US soldiers is god's retribution.

I’ve suggested in the past that the Phelps clan receives a lot of anonymous contributions from the gay community. It would be difficult for the community to actually create and keep up the act for such a perfect cartoon villain.
