Oh, he's a Mormon. That explains a lot.

The general consensus amongst the fandom, based upon the amount of homoeroticism in his books, is "methinks he doeth protest too much."

He writes one of these anti-gay articles every couple of years to, y'know, remind people he's not a giant fag.  Or something.

I have, somewhere, a collection of Card's short stories.  Card wrote intros to each story, and in most of them he referenced being "LDS" (as he constantly put it).  However, I didn't see any proselytizing in any of the stories (and very little moralizing).

I remember the stories were pretty good.  But I've never read Ender's Game; just never got around to it.  Is it worth reading?

Upon what are you basing that? A passage or two saying that God hates gays? You know, there’s also a lot of passages about stoning your children to death for disobedience, but I don’t see you cleaning your guns on that account.

[Y]ou have taken it upon yourself to prioritize certain portions of the Bible. I am forced to ask then, why in the world would you choose to prioritize the relatively tiny portion about hating and oppressing your fellow men and women, instead of giving precedence to the mountain of passages espousing the virtues of love and compassion for all of God’s children?

It’s a nothing issue that shouldn’t even be a question, and yet has been allowed to dominate the political landscape at a time when thousands of deaths around the world are crying out to be addressed.

Cracked is a strange place to be finding an essay like this.  Or maybe I just haven't had enough coffee this morning.

Ender's Game might be the only OSC novel worth reading.  His short stories are generally pretty good.

It's likely the best, but they're mostly entertaining.

As an SF writer, he has few equals.  As a political thinker, he's a rank n00b and thinks that parroting the RNC line as demanded by the LDS Church makes him some kinda goddamn genius.  I stopped reading his website several years ago, but I'm still a sucker for a new "Ender/Shadow" novel or his appearances in the pulps.

Bullshit, he hasn't written anything good since Speaker for the Dead. I would rank Tricia Sullivan, Bruce Sterling, and Vernor Vinge above him.

Pity. He has two more Pastwatch books coming out, supposedly, and now I'm semi-obligated not to purchase them. I hate when the anti-gheyz keep me from reading. It's fundie-mental.
