Compare “it’s because of centuries of Roman Occupation” to “it’s because of 400 years of slavery.”  Aftereffects of slavery have blamed for the high rates of diabetes, high blood pressure, premature birth and other health problems among Negro-Americans.  Blaming the Romans could become a White version of slavery whining.  This sort of whining about evil Romans doing terrible things to our ancestors that have messed up our health is beneath Whites.
